1
Be Active on LinkedIn Daily
Make it a point to be active on the site several times a day, every day. Even a small interaction such as a ‘Like’ on another connection’s post is helpful.
On your brand page, publish articles to draw attention to your profile and business. You can post about any relevant topic to engage users in a discussion. Include intriguing images with your posts, as that will draw more attention than text alone. When your connections react or comment on your posts, their reaction to your post will appear in their connections’ feeds, growing your reach.
You also can follow your industry influencers and react and comment accordingly. Stay active with current connections by reacting and commenting on their posts and articles. This action increases your exposure to your already existing network. This can also get you the attention of new people, which can lead to an invitation opportunity and new business opportunities.
2
Lead People to Your LinkedIn Profile
Although LinkedIn is a networking site for business, it is still an important social media entity. To get more people to see your LinkedIn profile, make sure they know how to find it. Include your profile link on your website, blog, and all social media platforms. Tweet your LinkedIn updates frequently.
Put your LinkedIn profile information on all your promotional material, including business cards and flyers. Be sure to add your LinkedIn information in your email signature, too.
3
Personalize Your Invites
To gain more connections, you must do more than just click on the random network suggestions. Do research on who you want to invite into your network.Try to identify relevant connection prospects. Did this person recently attend the same webinar, meeting, or trade show as you? Are they in the same industry and have some mutual connections?
When you find them on the site, go to their page and then click the Connect button. This will make a box appear where you can send a personalized message to them. To introduce yourself, mention your mutual connections or other things that you may have in common, such as that recent webinar. Let them know why you would like to connect.
People are more likely to connect on LinkedIn when an invite has some personal element added to it.
4
Endorse People You Know
Relationship networking can help increase your connections. Were you impressed with some aspect of a connection’s work or skill set? If you are willing to write a testimonial about someone you know, chances are that connection would be more than happy to follow the rule of reciprocity.
You can build win-win relationships where a glowing endorsement can attract more people to your network and therefore more business opportunities as a result. This is one of the best ways to build relationships and be valuable to your network.
5
Join Relevant and Valuable Groups
There are approximately 2.1 million active groups on LinkedIn. Your participation in group discussions is one way of building profitable relationships that can help you build an affiliate network. This is one of the best ways to get introduced to others who are in the same business.
When you post to a group, don’t only post brand new content. Dig into past articles you have published and post them, too. This helps potential new connections see a variety of your work. If someone from a group reacts or comments on your post, respond to them immediately. Say, “Thanks” or send them an invite with a personal message. You can read others’ posts and react and comment accordingly, then reach out to them as well.
Besides business or industry groups, you can also join groups that have the same interests such as hobbies or social causes. These groups can put you in front of a whole new target audience as well as some of your already established contacts.
